49ers rookie wide receiver Ronnie Bell switched from college basketball to football due to a last-minute decision.

Bell's transition happened during his senior year when he excelled in football, catching the attention of Michigan's coach Jim Harbaugh.

Coach Harbaugh reached out to Bell, and he quickly de-committed from Missouri State University to commit to Michigan.

Bell had a successful college football career, recording 145 receptions, 2,269 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns during five collegiate seasons with the Wolverines.

The 49ers drafted Bell in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he earned a spot on the 53-man roster with a strong preseason performance.

Bell made an impact in his rookie season, contributing with receptions and a touchdown, impressing the 49ers as he looks to establish himself in the team's offense.
